Overwatch 2 esports lives on, and these are its best players

The Overwatch esports scene has been a bit of a rocky one over years, as after the collapse of the Overwatch League, many of the game’s best players retired while others dispersed to Overwatch Champions Series teams. But through it all, there have been some absolute stand-out Overwatch 2 pros that have continued to be considered hold it down in the scene.

From skilled support players to DPS stars able to flex wherever required, these are the pro players considered the best of the best in Overwatch.

Lip

Lee “Lip” Jae-won is always mentioned when people talk about the best Overwatch 2 players of all time. He is best known for his time competing with Shanghai Dragons at the height of the Overwatch League. It’s hard to forget how the Chinese team went from failing to secure a single match win to later becoming champions of the entire OWL, and Lip remains the most memorable name from those teams.

Known for his precise and often incredible DPS play, Lip currently competes with Crazy Raccoon. This roster won the Overwatch Champions Series 2025 Champions Clash and has overall been dominant in the game’s pro scene post-Overwatch League. Even with trademark hero Sombra nerfed, Lip has continued to be one of the greats.

Proper

Kim “Proper” Dong-hyun has been dominating the Overwatch 1 and Overwatch 2 scene since 2018. He started with O2 Blast, he went on to win Contenders three separate times. Proper was rightfully promoted to San Francisco Shock in 2022 and more than proved himself in the Overwatch League. He is the only player to be awarded MVP, Rookie of the Year, and Role Star all in one season.

Proper now competes with Team Falcons, winning the OWCS 2024 World Finals. He will play a wide range of DPS heroes, basically filling any role that’s needed based on the team’s strategy. This has made him one of the unquestioned best Overwatch players ever.

Viol2t

Nobody would argue if you said that Park “Viol2t” Min-ki was one of the best Overwatch players of all time, past and present. The prolific support player rose from Contenders to compete in all six seasons of the Overwatch League. The second season was one of the best for Viol2t, with the star player winning a deserved MVP award. After losing to Atlanta Reign, San Francisco Shock was dropped to the lower bracket, where they won the next five matches without dropping a single map to become the Season 2 champions.

He now competes alongside Team Vision, taking part in big events like Esports World Cup and the Overwatch Championship Series.

Hydron

Isaiah “Hydron” Rodriguez has had an incredible career in pro Overwatch. Before he joined the Overwatch League, he was dominant in the Contenders scene. He competed for Florida Mayhem by 2022, helping the team to a great streak of placements including winning the Overwatch League 2022 Countdown Cup.

Known for his ability to play almost any role at a high level, Hydron now competes with Fisher College and represents America in a wide range of tournaments around the world.

Profit

While he may not have remained active post-OWL the way these other players have, we just can’t put together a list of the best Overwatch players of all time without mentioning this DPS star.

Park “Profit” Joon-yeong was a beast while competing with Seoul Dynasty during the Overwatch League. Before the OWL, Profit was also a beast in the Korean APEX tournament series. He then won the first season of the Overwatch League, cementing him as one of the GOATs of the game.

Profit was best known for playing a range of strong heroes including Tracer, Cassidy, and Genji, making him a menace to his enemies. Profit retired after the OWL, leaving behind a legacy that often has him mentioned in discussions of top players. Seoul Dynasty was a bit inconsistent after its first season, which has led to some arguments about Profit’s spot near the top. But there’s a reason he’s still mentioned to this very day.
