Riot Games has revealed new Valorant map Corrode, and players are already aiming to work out which agents will perform best on the game’s newest map.
Valorant players have seen 11 competitive maps added to the game throughout the years, and each brings different elements to challenge players and teams. Abyss was the last map Riot Games added to Valorant, and it faced much criticism from players. Riot has now revealed another new Valorant map in Corrode, and it’s set to launch on June 25 with Season 2025 Act IV.
Players will lose 50% less Ranked Rating for any losses had on Corrode for the first two weeks after the new map’s debut, while still earning 100% RR for wins, meaning this is a great time to increase rank with the right agent picks. Every Valorant agent has a particular set of skills that makes them more useful than others on specific maps, and the best Valorant agents for Corrode can utilize the map’s unique qualities to their advantage and easily defeat opposing players.
Chamber, Omen, and Tejo are among the best Valorant agents on Corrode, as they have some of the best abilities to take advantage of the new map’s unique setup.
Every Valorant agent brings something new to the table thanks to their utilities, but some are always going to be more effective than others. Whether for their mobility, information-gathering, or even weapon of choice, these agents shine the most on Corrode.
Corrode has multiple tight corners and spaces where players can sneakily hide. This makes it tough to remain aware of enemy locations, but fortunately, Tejo is excellent at ferreting these opponents out. Not only because of his information-gathering, but also for his utility that specializes in flushing enemies out of hiding.
The Initiator’s Stealth Drone can easily help to locate hidden enemies and eliminate them by using the element of surprise. His Guided Salvo is another ability that can be used to take down enemies after locating them with minimal risk. Not to mention that Corrode is the type of map for which Sentinels are crucial, and Tejo’s Guided Salvo can take out traps easily, rendering agents like Killjoy less efficient for the opposing team.
If multiple enemies are gathered at a single location, Tejo can dispatch them using his ultimate ability, Armageddon. Tejo’s ult can be more useful when used in the right spaces, and thanks to the map’s long corridor-like alleys, Corrode provides plenty of such opportunities.
Omen is another Valorant agent who can use his abilities on Corrode to turn the tide. The Controller’s Paranoia ability lets him equip and fire blinding projectiles. The best thing about the ability is that the projectiles can pass through walls and blind unsuspecting enemies. Since Corrode has so many hiding spots, Paranoia can be an excellent tool to blind and push enemies out of cover when your team has the right intel.
Omen can also teleport short or long distances, which can prove particulars effective here given the map’s design. Considering Corrode has multiple high ground areas that agents like Jett and Waylay can reach, Omen’s stealthy approach can catch these enemies by surprise. Not to mention that Omen’s smokes are still among the best thanks to their pinpoint precision, a great tool to use in creating cover on Corrode.
Like Breeze, Corrode merges tight spaces with open areas that have fewer hiding spots for players. Regular weapons aren’t always as efficient when attempting to take enemies out from afar, but snipers are perfect for these spaces. There are downsides to taking on a sniping role, whether it be the Operator’s high cost or the Outlaw’s low bullet count. And that’s where Chamber comes in.
The Sentinel’s ultimate ability, Tour de Force, equips a sniper rifle and can be significantly useful for taking down enemies from a distance. Corrode features many open spaces and vertical areas where Chamber’s sniping ability can be beneficial. The entire mid area is a long alleyway, and Chamber’s ultimate is ideal for taking down enemies from the mid window. Alternatively, points like B tower and A link have the open space that Chamber’s ultimate demands.
If things get tough, the Sentinel can always use his Rendezvous ability and instantly teleport away from the danger. Rendezvous is also good for scaling vertical areas quickly, making it easier to rotate or get into position to utilize Chamber’s ultimate.
