Vtuber Mika Melatika has revealed the two reasons why she left Nijisanji HQ and started streaming as Michi Mochievee with VShojo.
In a recent YouTube video, Michi shared what led to her eventually having a breaking point at Nijisanji. The vtuber claimed that the following information was a “dream” and the protagonist was “Bethany” in an attempt to avoid any legal repercussions from Nijisanji for sharing her story. The first issue that Michi had with Nijisanji HQ was how they handled her finances. Unlike VShojo, she accused Nijisanji of not being transparent and also not paying her what they claimed she earned.
On top of that, she appears to be one of many vtubers who have accused Nijisanji of questionable tax-related behavior.
Michi all but confirms that she left Nijisanji after the company forced her to pay back two years of unpaid taxes.
The second issue was another common accusation against Nijisanji HQ. The company allegedly does not let its members own their YouTube Play buttons. Michi recalled a time when “Bethany” saw her Play button on the wall but was told she couldn’t take a photo of it. She then made a joke where she put a hand over her lips as if to say “shh” and mocked stealing the plaque from the office wall. This didn’t sit well with the staff and she was scolded harshly.
“The fact that someone assumed that Bethany would sink so low to steal something really hurt Bethany’s ego. If it came from someone Bethany didn’t know perhaps it’d be a distasteful joke but this person knew Bethany, and this hurt her the most. They assumed it even though they clearly knew Bethany wouldn’t do that. Bethany forgives them, of course, but Bethany will never ever forget,” Michi told her chat.
It clearly struck a nerve with Michi that staff that knew her very well had still accused her of wanting to actually steal the Play button over a joke she made. It hurt even worse because Michi actually had a chance to take the button when it accidentally wound up in her possession and she flew back to HQ to return it due to her “very strict honor code.”
While some have claimed that vtubers can ask Nijisanji HQ for their YouTube Play buttons, other vtubers have claimed this to be untrue. Either way, fans of the vtuber were shocked to learn she had to even ask to begin with. Many were disappointed to hear that Nijisanji had treated yet another vtuber poorly after many previous accusations.
