Known for their focus on highlighting male vtubers, the list of Nijisanji EN members keeps growing by the day.
Nijisanji Project debuted in 2018 with a roster of Japanese-speaking 2D vtubers, or Livers as the company terms them. Since then, the group has expanded to include both Indonesian and Korean streamers along with a brand new English-speaking subsidiary. Nijisanji EN has passed several major milestones recently, including its first live concert in May 2024 and the release of its tenth wave of vtubers. And unlike the cast of other virtual talent agencies, a significant number of content creators are male and prove a demand for their streams.
Here’s the lineup of all Nijisanji EN members organized by their release wave.
Nijisanji EN’s first wave debuted in 2021 with each member’s theme fitting either earth, sea, and sky. LazuLite is a combination of the blue-green gemstone lazulite and the word light.
Obsydia is the dark side to LazuLight’s, well, light. Supposed to mirror the trichotomy of the first wave, the vtubers never manage to hit that “evil” energy they seemed to be designed for, and mostly just comes through in their design. The name Obsydia comes from the smooth black obsidian rock.
Moving beyond the earthly domain, the third generation of Nijisanji EN members represent heaven and hell. Each is indicative of one of Hippocrates’ four temperaments and is known as the “balanced wave” because they don’t have a counterpart group.
Luxiem is the first generation to include male livers, and the theme of the wave is hope and light. The name comes from the combination of the Latin words for light, lux, and royalty, regium. Additionally, Luxiem members come from across the timeline with one from the future, three from the past, and one still kicking after 400 years.
In comparison to Luxieum, Noctyx operates off of darkness with more members coming from the future. The name of the wave is thought to come from the Latin noct for night and the Greek goddess of darkness Nyx.
2022’s ILUNA is the first generation to contain both male and female Nijisanji EN members. All livers here have supernatural origins, from one being a living star to another gaining powers directly from the moon.
Functioning as the sunny counterpart to ILUNA’s moon, Xsoleil features school-aged human vtubers with superpowers. They all are part of the Institute of Infinity’s student council and must work to save the world from an impending apocalypse.
The eighth wave vtuber generation, titled Krisis, is the first in the list to be made up entirely of current Nijisanji EN members. With their name coming from the Greek word for judgement, the June 2023 team is also known as Heroes of the Night for their powers and commitment to justice.
TTT’s full name is “These Three Troublemaking Adventurers from Another World are Actually a Comedy Troupe?!,” with the titular Ts coming from the first three words. They continue the trend of superhero-themed livers in both Nijisanji and Nijisanji EN.
With the name as an anagram for haunted, Nijisanji EN’s tenth and most recent wave of vtubers follows three streamers living or working in a haunted house. It doesn’t help that the mistress Twisty naturally summons ghosts.
For those looking to be a part of the eighth wave of Livers, Nijisanji EN posts audition announcements once or twice a year. Prospective vtubers should have a character and avatar ready for when the time comes.
