Overpass is back in the Counter-Strike 2 competitive map rotation, and that means players will have to brush up on their map callouts.
Anubis was pushed out of the active duty map pool following the BLAST Austin Major, with Overpass making its grand return. Overpass being removed in the first place was somewhat surprising, as it was one of the most heavily featured maps in early promotional materials for Counter-Strike 2. The map received a major graphical overhaul, including a big splash of color around the iconic monster that leads to the B bomb site. Despite its promotion and the work that obviously went into it, it was on the outs. Its return now was also a surprise given that Valve purchased the rights to Cache from creator FMPONE shortly beforehand, seemingly setting up the reintroduction of Cache.
But instead, Overpass is back, and that means players will need to refamiliarize themselves with it and its callouts in short order. Here are all the most important callouts, and a breakdown of some of the alternative names for these spots.
Overpass has less consistency with its callouts than most Counter-Strike 2 maps, and that’s saying something. Some maps have different names for a few different locations, but this happens more than a few times with Overpass. While the map has one of the most iconic callouts in monster and some straightforward names like pillar and fountain, there are some trickier ones as well.

Valve
Many players, even Counter-Strike veterans, aren’t aware of all the callouts behind the A bombsite that lead to the B bombsite. Behind the A site are bank and back-A, with dumpster, truck, and van serving as key cover for retakes. The trouble is that the “bank” callout on Overpass is also sometimes called “lobby.” Similarly, back-A is also sometimes referred to as dumpster. Players should keep this in mind so they don’t find themselves getting confused mid-round.
From back-A, players can take underpass toward the B site. They need to either pass through red door to reach it via bridge, or they can jump out of heaven into pit. “Heaven” is another Overpass callout that has an alternate name, with many calling it “sniper’s nest” or just “nest.” As if things on the map weren’t confusing enough as it is.
The calls are a bit more consistent over on the A side of the map, albeit with a couple of distinctions. The key difference when it comes to Overpass’ A-side callouts that bathroom is sometimes referred to as “toilets.” Areas like bathroom connector can then sometimes be called “toilet connector,” and even then, there’s little consistency there as this area could also be referred to as “park connector.”
While there are quite a few differences among these key areas, calls on the map are generally more consistent beyond that. The T side has several straightforward callouts on Overpass including “playground,” “fountain,” and “T stairs.” Things aren’t particularly difficult past that either with recognizable areas like “party” that are referred to uniformly by the game’s players.
The “mid” area is oriented much lower than it is on most maps, but it’s still valid due to its relative position between either side’s spawn and the A site. “Long” is much more straightforward, albeit with a bit more cover for the T side to work with compared to Dust 2’s long area.
There’s no doubt about it: the weaving and multi-tiered structure of Overpass can be more than a little confusing for players, whether they’re new to the map or returning to it after its extended absence from the competitive map pool. Hopefully, this listing of calls can help you to feel better prepared for your next ranked match on the map.
