Corrode is the latest new Valorant map, and with the potential for it to shake up the meta by pushing controllers back into the mix, players will want to sort out all of the callouts for the map to better the communication with teammates.

Valorant now features 12 scenic locations, each tactically designed to favor certain classes of agents. Some maps are flexible enough to let all agent classes shine, but recently, smoke-heavy characters have been somewhat pushed into the background. Riot’s newest addition might look like a cross between Ascent and Sunset, but it offers a surprisingly unique style of play.

Corrode is Valorant’s 12th competitive map, and it brings back the classic feel players have come to love with Ascent. Added in June 2025, it’s filled with tight choke points and close corners, and it offers just enough range around mid to keep Operators in play.

Corrode features a simple layout, with a long mid-lane separating Sites A and B. Both sites are relatively small, but the surrounding space and connecting links make up for it. From a layout perspective, the map seems to favor defenders, offering plenty of corners to hold and delay pushes. The abundance of alcoves also opens the door for shotguns and cheeky off-angle plays.

This map features all of the callouts on Corrode, allowing players to alert teammates to each of these areas of the map as needed.

Compared to the A Site, B is much harder to break into because of its larger and more open layout. A, on the other hand, is a breeze for attackers running a double controller setup. The site is relatively small, making it easy to block vision with smokes and secure a quick plant. Both sites are connected by a mid-window, which allows defenders to rotate relatively quickly. However, the lack of shortcuts and teleporters may be a minor bother when trying to pull defenders from one side of the map to the other.

While the two sites may be difficult to take control of, attackers will likely find more success while pushing up through mid, provided that they have enough smokes. Unless defenders are bold enough to play aggressively on mid stairs, a single window smoke can open a way towards both the A and B sites. This is where Kay/O could come in handy to deactivate any potential utility uses early on in the round.

When it comes to the best weapons for the new Valorant map, Corrode looks to be welcoming to both Operators and shotguns. The Phantom may also get more use here, given that most engagements are likely to play out at close range.

One potential downside for newer players is that Corrode naturally favors teams with strong communication and quick callouts. Learning the map’s callouts can make a big difference when playing on this French castle town. While the terminology is still new and likely to evolve, just getting familiar with the basics is a solid starting point and will help any player to be better prepared for success on Corrode.
