HLTV has announced that it will introduce a Hall of Fame for retired Counter-Strike players and fans are speculating which stars of yesteryear will be the first inductees.
HLTV has announced its plans to honor the legends of Valve’s enduring tactical shooter. To accomplish this, retired players and coaches will be inducted into a newly introduced hall of fame. This will honor Counter-Strike’s legends and show them the appreciation they deserve.
The CS players will be inducted into the Hall of Fame during the HLTV Awards gala. The gala will take place on January 11, 2025, in Belgrade, Serbia at MTS Dvorana. There is no list of the potential names that will be in the Hall of Fame. However, that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating about which legendary players should be in the hall of fame.
HLTV hasn’t announced the names of the players who’ll be inducted into the hall of fame. There has been no official announcement regarding the nominations or selection of any CS player for the Hall of Fame. The players will be inducted in January 2025 so it’s likely fans will hear more before then.
Naturally, there has been discussion and debate regarding who ought to be among the first entrants. Among the favorite choices are stars from Swedish and French Counter-Strike squads.
Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg and Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund are among the favorites to be on the first ballot.
f0rest announced his retirement in November 2024, after a career of almost two decades. The Swedish CS player had been a part of many different teams like SK Gaming and Fnatic, but is primarily known for his long run at the top of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with Ninjas in Pyjamas.
GeT_RiGhT is another former member of Ninjas in Pyjamas. The former CS player retired from esports in 2021 to pursue full-time streaming and content creation. The Swedish player gave 14 years to Counter-Strike esports and battled many health issues while playing.
It’s not just former NiP players that are in the conversation, though.
The legendary CS sniper Kenny “kennyS” Schrub announced his retirement in 2023 after a lengthy and successful career. The French player has been enjoying Counter-Strike since he was 6 years old. However, he got into esports when he was 17. Over the years he has been part of various teams and won 17 major tournaments.
The list goes on, with the likes of Fernando “fer” Alvarenga, Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth, Jarosław “pashaBiceps” Jarząbkowski, and many others having a case. Fans can expect players to be officially announced in December.
