The 2025 Esports World Cup has kicked off, and some of the strongest professional Valorant teams in the world are prepared to duke it out for a chance to win the trophy and accompanying cash prize. With the group stage’s opening matches underway, 100 Thieves will play Fnatic in a single opening game to decide which team takes an early advantage.
Betting tip: Fnatic’s strong performance in the recent Masters Toronto 2025 makes it the team to side with in this match.
100 Thieves has had a rather shaky past couple of tournaments. From not even qualifying for Masters Toronto to barely making it to this year’s Esports World Cup, the team is going through a relatively rough patch. While it’s still considered one of the strongest American Valorant teams, primarily thanks to star player Cryocells who is by far the most consistent player on the team, even he hasn’t performed to the best of his capabilities recently.
Asuna has stepped up big time, being one of the most versatile players on the team. Zander and eeiu do carry their weights, with Zander’s smokes are key for setting up attacks and blocking off the enemy’s vision when defending. But the team’s biggest weak point is still Boostio, who leaves much to be desired in every match. Despite primarily playing sentinels, the player isn’t able to reliably influence most games in his team’s favor, instead dying in avoidable gunfights.

Conversely t wouldn’t be an understatement to call kaajak one of the best duelist players currently. His recent performance has been great, and his aggressive plays are supported by Chronicle and Alfajer’s fine mechanical skills and strategic thinking. While Boaster is sometimes hit or miss, his presence is still felt in most matches, as he uses his utilities to set up round-winning plays for his team.
Fnatic’s biggest weakness is its mental when backed into a corner. The team’s players usually start making questionable decisions when they’re losing. Fortunately for Fnatic, the team’s form is better than it has ever been before, and even though it lost in the recent Masters Toronto finals, the team showcased an excellent performance to that point. Boaster was arguably being the biggest reason for the team’s eventual defeat in the event’s final series versus Paper Rex.

While both teams have weak links to account for, Fnatic has more star players in better form. 100 Thieves will likely go in guns blazing and try to win both pistol rounds, but Fnatic’s better adaptability and utility usage may win the team this game.
Our 100 Thieves vs Fnatic pick: Fnatic as the match winner at 1.32 at GG.BET.
