100 Thieves is set to appoint Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander as its CS2 head coach. Although the move isn’t official yet, Luís Mira from HLTV.org reports that the four-time Major champion is “on the brink” of joining 100 Thieves and landing his first coaching job.
Gla1ve retired as a player on November 24th, after spending months on the sidelines. He spent his last months as a pro in ENCE, but is widely recognized for his time with Astralis. He led the Danish organization to win four CS:GO Majors and another 20 notable trophies between 2016 and 2020, the years in which Astralis were amongst the best teams in the world.
When gla1ve announced his retirement, he mentioned that he believes he can be a top-tier coach.
I am still here to lead a team to victory. That part hasn’t changed. Not by an inch. This decision comes from a place of clarity and ambition. After years on the server, I realized that I had given everything I had as a player and lifted almost every trophy I had ever dreamt of lifting. I realized that my impact can be greater off the server than on it. I’m retiring as a player now — not because I’m stepping away from the game that I love more than anything else — but because I’m stepping further into the game and because I truly believe I have something extraordinary to offer in this role.
This transition is a proactive choice. It’s not about ending something; it’s about beginning the next chapter with purpose. I know who I am as a competitor, and that competitive drive will now fuel my coaching.
Should gla1ve sign with 100 Thieves, the Californian organization will have two pieces for its upcoming CS2 roster. The organization announced its return to Counter-Strike esports in November, and the project will be backed by Roobet.
Thus far, 100 Thieves has only signed former FaZe Clan star Håvard “rain” Nygaard. He’ll be taking the IGL role for the first time in his career. Other than him, 100 Thieves also appointed Sean Gares as Head of FPS and Graham “messioso” Pitt as Head of CS Operations.
100 Thieves hope they’ll finalize the team in time for the 2026 season.
