As expected following a report by Dot Esports, 100 Thieves have announced the signing of Cryo from XSET. Despite being one of the best teams within the region, Cryo was forced to move from XSET when the organization failed to make VCT Americas 2023.
100 Thieves signing Cryo is one of the first major moves of the expected rostermania that will ensue following the announcement of the VCT teams.
For his performances in 2022, Cryo is viewed as one of the best Chamber players in the world. He is viewed as the second best within North America, only behind yay. Yay also looks to be on the move following OpTic’s failure to make the VCT list, he will reportedly be heading to Cloud9.
On 100 Thieves, Cryo will be replacing Will, who has been somewhat disappointing since his acquisition by the organization in April. In Cryo, 100 Thieves have secured themselves a huge upgrade. unfortunately for Will, he will be released. However, this does allow the young Canadian to be free to seek out further employment within the VCT teams.
Cryo is the first of the former XSET team to be signed onto a VCT roster. They had previously been in talks to stick together as a team and join G2, however, this broke down following the drama surrounding Carlos “ocelote” Rodriguez and the eventual denial of a VCT slot for his now former org, G2.
It is currently unknown if 100 Thieves are planning on making further changes. The organization recently impressed with a top-12 finish at VALORANT Champions 2022.
